The thing about tiny towns is...

So, I'm placed in Asahi, which at first dismayed me (population: 9000), but actually, the more I think about it, the more I like it. It's REALLY tiny! But, it's also REALLY close to Takefu (30 minutes by bike; population: 70,000), where I can go to take courses on various topics of Japanese culture. And, to me, that is the real reason I'm going to Japan; I want to learn more about Japan and Japanese culture.

Really, what better place could I go to do that? If I were placed in Fukui, it would be too much like home. McDonalds, Subway, KFC everywhere. Nah, not for me. I want a place where the only thing I can even think of doing is to stay in and practice my Japanese, because there sure aint nobody else in this 'burg that speaks English.

Likely, I'll be in a place that is nice and quiet, I'll be the only foreigner (it's good to be unique), and I'll have a lot of free time. It's perfect.
